digital symbiosis
A filter that utilises a LiDAR scan of a lichen covered basalt rock from Snæfellsness, Iceland. The lichens permeate the substrate with small hyphae- unable to be separated without damage to the surface or specimen- the surface is integral to the survival of the colony.
The filter acts as an analogy for the digital landscape and it’s increasing requisite within society. Much like the lichens symbiotic relationship with the rock , our relationship with the digital is combined and intertwined.

Icelandic Holobionts
A selection of Icelandic substrates with crustose and foliose lichens on them-an amalgamation of biotic and abiotic surfaces as one. Hand pinched pots with black glaze and common sphagnum moss as a nod to the silent landscapes of Berserkjahraun.
